About us

The company’s headquarters is located in Pecica on European Road 7, 20 kilometers from the city of Arad and 20 kilometers from the Hungarian border, via the two crossing points Nădlac and Turnu.

Environmental Policy

Our company places special emphasis on environmental protection and invests to ensure that its operations produce minimal negative impact.

  • We use trucks that meet the ‘green and safe trucks’ requirements, complying with Euro 6 and higher emission standards.
  • We encourage drivers to drive economically, thereby reducing carbon dioxide emissions;
  • Through efficient route planning, we avoid empty truck runs.

Fleet

The vehicle fleet consists of DAF and Mercedes Benz tractors with 460 and 480 HP engines, which comply with EURO 5 and EURO 6 emission standards, and 22-ton semi-trailers of various volumes, produced exclusively by SCHMITZ.

Timeline

Our story began over 35 years ago

1990
Immediately after the regime change in Romania, Alexandru Szep started his first own business. He focused on freight transport, a field in which he had previously been active, and purchased his first second-hand truck, an IFA L50 W. Working as an independent individual according to his own approach, which prioritized respect for the client, fairness, and punctuality, he managed to earn the appreciation of many partners, being both owner and driver at the same time
1992
He managed to purchase another truck, this time new, from Poland: a STAR 1142 model from the former ‘Jelez’ factory.
1993
In accordance with the requirements of that time, he established the company Expres Transport S.R.L., a name it still bears today.
1994

Another second-hand truck with trailer, a MAN 361, was purchased. Around the same time, his eldest son Szep Zoltan joined him, and shortly after, his younger brother Szep Alexandru as well.

From the beginning, the dispatch and basic accounting were handled by his wife Szep Ileana, who quickly gained extensive experience in international freight transport.

1997

With the introduction of EURO 2 standards, despite limited financial capacity, the company began negotiations with several truck manufacturers and dealers. These initially failed due to excessive requirements regarding bank guarantees, motivated by the lack of trust at that time towards Romanian partners. However, understanding was found with Ad van Wijk, a Dutch businessman who had also established a transport company in Cluj and knew the realities of Romania. In the same year, the first DAF XF truck with a semi-trailer was purchased.

From this point, and adhering to its basic principles, S.C. Expres Transport S.R.L. began to prosper, acquiring new trucks each year and following an upward path, although by no means an easy one.

2002
The company purchased a plot of land in the town of Pecica and began construction of its own garage.
2003
The works are completed and the official office is opened
2006

Four Euro 5 truck units were purchased, including a special vehicle (refrigerated van), to serve this transport segment as well. The company mainly works with Italy, collaborating with reputable firms and operating a fleet of 19 trucks exclusively DAF and trailers of all types. Orders are fulfilled with professionalism, using modern vehicles and professional drivers

2008
The global economic crisis begins.
2009
Following total-loss accidents, a second-hand tractor unit and a complete set (tractor unit and semi-trailer) are purchased
2010
Two new units are purchased again: DAF tractor heads and Schmitz semi-trailers. Advantageous transport contracts are secured with reputable partners, a result of the reliability of our services.
2012
Further investment is made in two DAF units and Schmitz semi-trailers.
2013
The fleet is expanded with four more units, remaining loyal to the same manufacturers.
2014
The first four units with DAF Euro 6 tractor heads and Schmitz semi-trailers are purchased. Due to market conditions, a longer pause follows in the modernization process.
2020
This year, three second-hand DAF tractor heads are purchased from the Hungarotruck dealership in Hungary
2021
Freight forwarding becomes a necessity, so the transport brokerage activity is also licensed.
2022
Two more purchases follow from Hungarotruck.
2023
This year was supposed to be a celebratory one, marking 30 years of uninterrupted activity in service of our partners. Unfortunately, it remains a sad year in our memory, as we lost an essential person: founder, administrator, wife, mother, and grandmother – Ileana Szep. We will never forget her!
2024
After 28 years of loyalty to the DAF brand for new vehicles, this chain is broken and a new partnership with Mercedes-Benz begins, through Daimler Truck & Bus Romania S.R.L., with the purchase of two tractor heads
2025
Due to the reliability of the products and with the introduction of new models in the Mercedes range, two more tractor heads of the new generation are purchased
2026

As part of the modernization plan, two more Mercedes-Benz units are ordered.

Our company has not grown through giant leaps, but step by step. We have not become a giant corporation, but through fairness, punctuality, and care for the transported goods, we have earned the respect of our partners and a solid reputation in the world of road transport
